  • Weekly Health & Wellbeing Coaching includes:
  • Daily self-care routines and relaxation techniques to help quiet a busy mind and centre into a more grounded and coherent physical state. Done regularly, these can drastically reduce stress and anxiety levels, lift mood and improve function of the cardiovascular system, the nervous system, immunity and those all important hormones.
  • Tools to : Increase your 'Window of Tolerance' to daily stress, to develop a more positive mindset and reframe negative thinking and to regulate heightened emotions.
  • Deeply Restorative Hypnotherapy to rebalance the nervous system by inducing a wonderful sense of inner calm and balance.

Hypnotherapy can be used as a tool to help you overcome current obstacles or worries by calming the limbic brain (where emotional memories are stored and the alarm system for a stress response is activated) and reprogramming the unconscious mind to unhook from old or unwanted fear and anxiety responses.

Hypnotherapy provides a designated time and space specifically just for you. A precious moment to slow down, away from the busy world. To give your body permission to safely relax and rest, and your mind that much needed space to drift and float.

We so rarely stop and allow ourselves any peaceful, uninterrupted time for inner focus and intuitive learning. When we constantly keep busy and distracted, we become detached from our selves, unaware of the reasons for our feelings and emotional symptoms and out of tune with our true needs or desires. In the dreamy like state of hypnosis, our emotional brain becomes dulled and the threat alarm system is much less sensitive, feelings of fear and anxiety are not triggered in the same way as when we are conscious and our analytical, self monitoring mind also goes offline. When we sink into a slower but more focused brain wave state, we more freely use our imagination, our visualisation skills, our innate intuition and creative thought processes. We are able to view situations from a much more positive perspective while being guided by the inspirational and motivational words and suggestions of a hypnotherapist. Listening to hypnosis audios regularly can balance an over or under activated nervous system, metabolise negative emotions, improve sleep disturbances, build strength and resilience, increase confidence and self worth, boost mood, energy levels and motivation, and improve cognitive functions such as focus, memory and concentration.

MENOPAUSE AND HORMONES

The swing in hormone levels we experience during the perimenopausal years, plays havoc with so many aspects of our health. Particularly our brain function. Our brain is covered with hormone receptors for Oestrogen and Progesterone. When Oestrogen levels fall or fluctuate, it can trigger migraines and headaches. It also affects neurotransmitters like Dopamine, Serotonin and Norepinephrine which can lead to difficulty with memory and concentration, mood swings, anxiety and changes in sleep. Nerve cell function can also be affected causing pins and needles or joint pains. Progesterone levels also fall which normally acts as a mood stabiliser, calming the nervous system. Cortisol levels rise and our stress hormone responses become dysregulated. Even though oestrogen levels drop, if it becomes dominant in relation to progesterone it can actually cause irritability, hot flushes and sleep disturbance. Testosterone levels also decline during this time, which can cause a lack of libido, low energy, increased fatigue, irritability, anxiety, lack of confidence and brain fog.

Hormones rise and fall in peaks and troughs during the perimenopause years, so we feel better one minute and worse the next. Is it any wonder we feel so 'out of sorts' during this period of our lives?!! I am an advocate for Hormone Replacement Therapy to help balance hormone levels, however there is no 'one size fits all' dose. Some people are far more affected than others by hormonal changes, so it needs monitoring and titrating by your GP or menopause specialist, according to your response. We are all different and hormone levels are also changing as you age.

There are many women who can't or don't want to take HRT, so alternative therapies can help to soothe those troublesome symptoms. It is also very beneficial combined with HRT because sadly hormones don't cover all of the symptoms we ladies suffer.

Hypnotherapy and Coaching for Menopause focuses on your symptoms, both physically and mentally and looks at any areas of life you feel you are struggling with and where your energy is most depleted. Making healthy changes to how we live our lives, improving support networks and building a strong arsenal of coping skills can make a huge difference to how we survive and thrive during the menopause.

Therapy and coaching can also help you transition through this time of change by looking at your value systems and re-evaluating whether your life is enabling you to embrace the things you love or is holding you back from the things that make you feel happy, comforted, joyful, inspired and alive. We would look at the 'stories' you tell yourself and any unhelpful behaviours you may have developed to help yourself cope.

Therapy focuses on relieving the challenging emotional highs and lows and on building resilience to cope with the increased stress and overwhelm from juggling a busy life during this difficult and changeable time.

Please do get in touch to book a consultation session to discuss your peri/menopause journey and get the help you need.

NOTE This programme is particularly helpful for neurodivergent women struggling with perimenopause. I have experience with neurodivergent clients and also women with a late diagnosis of ADHD or ASD (or now suspect they are neurodivergent). Extreme fluctuations in hormone levels during perimenopause can cause life altering changes in mood, emotional regulation and executive function for women (particularly with ADHD). The hormonal changes can expose ADHD traits that previous coping mechanisms and masking had covered but become ineffective when hormone levels are depleted (particularly with Oestrogen because it drops Dopamine and Serotonin) and women find it very difficult to cope with their normal responsibilities and routines. Many women struggle with their mental health, leave their jobs, have relationship breakdowns, physical burnout and worse attempt suicide. If this sounds familiar to you please do speak to your GP about hormone therapy and a possible ADHD/ASD assessment. There is also a wealth of helpful information online.

I have a small Facebook page for education and discussion about all things Menopause. It's FREE to join and there's lots of helpful info and tips! You can also find support from other women going through the same issues.
